TANNING salons would need to be licensed and banned from allowing children on to their premises under a proposed clampdown to tackle Scotland's "epidemic" of skin cancer.
Ken Macintosh, the Labour MSP for Eastwood, is publishing a private member's bill aimed at regulating tanning salons across Scotland.
It would ban the use of coin-operated and unsupervised sunbeds, provide more information on the health risks and stop anyone under 16 using tanning equipment.
Skin cancer is the fastest rising cancer in Scotland, with 125 new cases diagnosed every week.
