The sunless tanning booth is a sophisticated and self-contained unit, an innovation in the tanning industry. It is made of a platform or stage (on which the tanner stands) which is turning around. At the same time, a tanning spray or solution is spread through the system's nozzles.
Some booths have a Voice Command which directs the tanner inside the booth. Some booth systems include a computer program to modify and to adjust the spray. No need to apply, to dry, to moisturize, to wipe or anything else. The tanner can test the tanning by using a tanning sticker. Thus, the matching between the intensity of tanning process and skin type is close by ideal. Apart from this facility, the natural color and darkness of the skin significantly matter.
Mystic Tan (together with MagneTan technology), Sun Mist and Solar Shower are examples of tanning booths. Some tanning booths rely on misting the tanning product; the advantage is going out the booth almost dry. Indoor tanners have to obey elementary rules such as:
- it is forbidden to take a shower right after the spray booth tanning, so the skin is impregnated with the tanning drops
- wearing clothes should be avoided, since the booth is private (nude tanning is strongly suggested)
- it is recommended to wait 12-24 hours before another session; otherwise an orange color might appear
Sunless booths are expensive and the necessity to purchase tanning solution, hair caps, protective cream increases the package price.
